SSH Key Viewer

Parse supported SSH public and private key formats and inspect key type, size, fingerprint and available metadata directly in your browser.

What is SSH Key Viewer?

Inspect supported SSH keys without manually decoding key files. Paste a public or private key to view its key type, size, fingerprint and available metadata, such as curve and comment. Key parsing takes place in your browser, and the private key material is not displayed in the results.

How to use

  1. Paste a supported SSH public or private key into the input field.
  2. Click Decode to parse the key and inspect its metadata.
  3. Review the key type, size, format and SHA-256 fingerprint.
  4. Check the curve or comment if those details are available.
  5. Click Copy to copy the displayed information or Download to save it as a text file.
  6. Click Clear to remove the input and results.

FAQ

Which SSH key types can the viewer inspect?

The viewer can inspect key types supported by the underlying sshpk-browser library. Supported formats depend on the key encoding and the parser.

Can I inspect an SSH public key?

Yes. Paste a supported SSH public key to view its type, size, fingerprint and any available metadata.

Can I inspect a private SSH key?

Yes, if its format is supported and the key can be parsed. The viewer displays metadata rather than the private key material.

Is my SSH key uploaded to a server?

The component parses the key in the browser and does not send it to an application server. However, only paste sensitive keys into environments you trust.

What is an SSH key fingerprint?

A fingerprint is a digest derived from key data that helps identify and compare keys. This tool displays a SHA-256 fingerprint.
