KSUID Generator

Generate KSUID identifiers with a timestamp component and random payload for sortable distributed identifiers.

What is KSUID Generator?

Generate KSUIDs for applications that need compact, globally unique and roughly time-sortable identifiers. Each KSUID combines a timestamp with a random payload and can be generated individually or in batches.

How to use

  1. Choose the number of KSUIDs to generate.
  2. Generate the identifiers.
  3. Review the generated KSUID values.
  4. Check their sortable timestamp component when needed.
  5. Copy individual identifiers or the complete list.

FAQ

What is a KSUID?

KSUID stands for K-Sortable Unique Identifier. It combines a timestamp component with random data to create identifiers that can be sorted approximately by creation time.

Why are KSUIDs sortable?

The timestamp component is placed at the beginning of the encoded identifier, allowing KSUIDs to be ordered approximately by their creation time.

Can I generate multiple KSUIDs at once?

Yes. The generator supports batch generation so you can create multiple KSUIDs in one operation.

Are KSUIDs guaranteed to be unique?

No identifier format provides an absolute mathematical guarantee of uniqueness. KSUIDs use a large random payload to make collisions extremely unlikely.

Are KSUIDs the same as ULIDs?

No. KSUID and ULID are different identifier formats, although both combine time-related information with randomness and are useful when sortable identifiers are needed.
